The family of the poet Vytautas Mačernis' uncle Juozas Mačernis lived on the shore of Lake Mačiai, close to the Alka Museum. While studying at Telšiai Žemaitė Gymnasium, the poet lived with his uncle for some time. The house stood in the territory at the current address M. Valančiaus str. 21. Later, the house was rented by the party Peekė Kryževičiūtė. To this day, the house has not survived - now it is replaced by a pond. At M. Valančiaus st. The table "V. Mačernio Street could have been here" hangs in the mailbox.
