Established in 1932. Samogitian Ancient Amateur Society ALKA. Today it is a famous Samogitian museum, which has accumulated more than 102 thousand. exhibits.
The museum exhibits paintings by world-renowned painters - L. Kranach, A. Karachi, FK Fabro, JB Lampis and others, as well as Lithuanian painters - P. Smuglevičius, V. Slendzinski, K. Ruseckas, M. Kuliesa, J. Oleškevičius, A. Original works of Valeškos, T. Valius, V. Valius, J. Bagdonas, J. Vienožinskis, A. Galdikas. In addition to fine art, there are exhibits of applied art, such as Renaissance, Baroque, Classicist furniture, 18th-19th centuries. tapestries, valuable ancient prints, photographs, archaeological finds from stone, Iron Age camps, settlements and burial sites. The rich heritage of ethnography includes agricultural, handicraft and household items, from which are especially original collections of cultures, sticks, waders, towels and old Samogitian fabrics. Blacksmith's artworks - tombstones and chapel tops (sunsets) - have a special place. A particularly valuable collection of old wooden sculptures has been collected.
The museum also hosts educational activities, exhibitions from the museum's fundraisers, organizes afternoons, concerts, and other events to celebrate state and prominent people.
The facility is adapted for people with reduced mobility.
