In Viesvėnai in 1758. the first church was built. 1852 a new wooden church has been completed. Its construction was carried out in 1848. Domininkas Styrbinskis, a priest who came to Viesvėnai. Through his efforts and mostly at the expense of the population of Viešvėnai in 1850 - 1852. a new wooden church was erected, which has survived to this day despite some reconstruction and repair work. 1907 - 1908 priest Vladislovas Tomaševičius began to take care of the separation of Viešvėnai branch from Telšiai parish. It was supported by local nobles, many parishioners. However, the process of separation took a long time and the final separate parish of Viešvėnai was founded only in 1924. 1902 the huts of the rectory burned down. They were from 1903 to 1906. to restore, the church was also introduced, instead of the old one - a new larger sacristy, a belfry was built. 1924 a parish was established and the church was repaired. After the Second World War, priest Jonas Kauneckas repaired the bell tower and painted the church. For this, the Soviet authorities forbade him to serve the Viesvėnai church and parish.

The church forms of folk architecture, has neo-Gothic features, a rectangular plan, a single tower, with a sacristy presented. There are 3 altars. Cemetery fence stone masonry.
