Telšiai is one of the most important centers of the Jewish diaspora in Samogitia. As early as 1873. Jewish higher school "JEŠIVA" is established (the school continues its activities in Cleveland, USA) where TORA is taught by the world-famous Telšiai method. During the interwar period, the oldest Lithuanian rabbi lives in Telšiai, opens the first Jewish girls' progymnasium in Lithuania, has a large and rich Jewish community, and operates two Jewish banks. The artistic accent “Skrynia” is intended to remind the importance of the extinct Telšiai Jewish diaspora not only in Telšiai, Žemaitija, but also in a much wider geographical area, and the ability of the diaspora to create and develop businesses.
