Samogitian Museum "Alka" Samogitian village exposition

An open-air exposition of the Samogitian Museum "Alka" in Samogitia village has been established in Telšiai, on the south-western shore of Lake Mutis. The most important task of this exposition is to depict the folk life in the natural environment, to preserve the authentic monuments of folk architecture as a source of science and ethnic heritage. Samogitian village expositions in the area of 8.5 ha contain 16 authentic 19th century end of the 20th century. early buildings, which are divided into three homesteads and the public sector.

The exposition has been operating since 1982. 2012 in the spring of this exposition welcomes visitors newly installed, all buildings reconstructed, fences fenced, new crosses and chapels built. Various events are organized in the exposition: May services, folklore festivals, laying theaters. Museologists lead educational events. One of the most popular is "Jau ir Jurgis". Spring welcomes returning birds. In the education class set up in the homestead of the average peasant, they teach how to weave, make toys, felt wool, and embroider.
Samogitian horses are bred in the Samogitian rural exposition. Anyone can ride a horse-drawn carriage.
