November 18-22 The delegation of Telšiai district municipality visited the meeting of municipal partners in Saint Egrevo, France. At the invitation of Laurent Amadieu, Mayor of St. Egrev, Telšiai district was represented by Mayor Kęstutis Gusarovas, council member Janina Bucevičė, director of the Samogitian Tourism Information Center Egidijus Vaškelevičius and manager of the center Viktorija Lekavičiutė. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Minsk (Poland) municipality of Mazovia, a partner of Telšiai, together with Mayor Marcin Jakubowski.
"One of the main goals of international cooperation is that as many residents of the district as possible take an active part in it and feel its benefits. Therefore, the possibility to implement joint projects or ideas in the fields of culture, sports, art and other fields was one of the main topics discussed during this visit. During the visit, it was very cool that we had the opportunity to introduce Telšiai to the residents of our partner city, to show how unique and beautiful this city is, and to gladly invite you to come to the capital of Samogitia. The surprise and good words of the residents about Telšiai will remain in the memories of the whole delegation for a long time and, I believe, will open new opportunities for international cooperation, ”said Kęstutis Gusarovas, the Mayor of the Municipality, about the visit to St. Egreve.
The opening of the meeting took place at the St. Egrevo Municipal Palace. During the meeting, the members of the town council introduced the guests to the activities of the municipality, the similarities and differences of the municipal partners were discussed, and the experience of Annie Chemin's exhibition was shared.
During the visit, representatives of the partner cities visited the city fire station, Le Patio Youth Center, the Infant Day Center, Fiancey Park and the market. He also got acquainted with the social services organization Soliha, participated in the celebration to mark the election of the neighboring city of Grenoble in 2022. European Green Capital. During the visit, the museums of the French Revolution, the history of the Isere region, the archeology of the Church of St. Laurent and the history of art were visited. The Mayor of Telšiai District K. Gusarov took part in a debate on Europe with the French MEP Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield. The debate focused on the EU's benefits, prospects and emerging threats. The mayor of the municipality presented the Telšiai district, perspectives, implemented projects and challenges.
